Hi, for the caramel can I use a tin of sweetened condensed milk and then add the sugar or I should I skip the sugar. Asking as only have access to sweetened condensed milk tin.

What rolled oats can I use please? I can only find porridge oats. Where can I get rolled oats from please?

In reply to Iz. Are you making the recipe as it is written or using a ready made caramel? If you are making your own and using the correct ingredients it needs boiling for longer x

23/ 05/ 2024 not done baking until recently when I decided to give it a go so as this is one of my son’s favourite recipes I said I would give it a go and OMG I’m supper proud of myself it came out absolutely amazing not too sweet just perfect my son said it’s one of the best I’ve done so far I even managed to get the affect on top with the chocolate. Thank you Jane for sharing your recipe I’m hoping to do the millionaire shortbread next.

Do I need to wait for the flapjack to cool completely before adding the caramel? Or make and add once it’s come out the oven and still warm?

Hiya! I wouldn’t recommend using it for the flapjack part – and definitely not for the caramel. I’d stick to block butter! Hope this helps! x
